The last time I was a bridesmaid, my lifelong BFF Heather chose strappy, silver, kitten-heel sandals for her attendants to wear with our gauzy green dresses. Despite how cute the shoes were, I was terrified. Even though my feet are pretty nice as a whole, my toenails are totally embarrassing-especially my big toes’ nails. They look weirdly narrow compared to the width of the toe itself, and they’re just so darn short. I typically wear closed-toe shoes, but that wasn’t an option.
I can’t even begin to describe my joy when I saw, next to the glue-on manicure sets at the drugstore, the Kiss Everlasting French Toenail Kit. Why hadn’t I known about these sooner?! I purchased two of the $6 sets-which come with 28 nails in various sizes-one for the wedding, and one to test out a few weeks before.
I told the bride about the find, and she was understandably skeptical. But when I promised that no one, including her, would be able to tell the difference between my phony French pedicure and the other bridesmaids’ real ones, she chose to trust me. (That’s what BFFs do, right?)
The day of the wedding, even while the Heather was caught up in getting ready and posing for photographs, she looked down at my feet and exclaimed, “Marci, those are awesome!” And she was absolutely right. My Kiss glue-on pedi was indistinguishable from my fellow bridesmaids’ painted-on pedis, and probably lasted longer!
