While the debate is still out, studies suggest a habit can be formed within 21-66 days if you really stick to it. So this year, instead of setting myself up for disappointment with an unrealistic New Year’s resolution, I’ve devised a plan to improve my health and well-being, one month at a time: incorporating one small lifestyle change into each day for one month until (fingers-crossed) a healthy habit is formed.
Need help kick-starting a healthier new you? What better time to start than the first meal of the day. Try swapping foods that pose as wholesome breakfast treats yet more closely resemble dessert, like sugary cereals and oversized baked goods, for something nutritious and satisfying like a Pure Organic Snack Bar. Made with organic fruit and sprinkled with crunchy nuts, these herbicide-, pesticides-free snacks provide the protein, fiber, vitamins and antioxidants necessary to get you through the morning growl-free.
Unlike many health bars that boast nutrition yet incorporate calorie-heavy ingredients like sugar, butter and oil, these bars are sweetened naturally with agave, fruit juice and organic syrups from tapioca or brown rice.
Aside from delectable flavors like Banana Coconut and Cherry Cashew bars, my personal favorite has to be the Organic Wild Blueberry Bar. Combining the sweet taste of organic dates and dried blueberries with savory almonds, walnuts and cashews in each bite, this melt-in-your-mouth bar provides six satiating grams of protein at only 200 calories and one gram of saturated fat (the rest are all good fats).
Although it may seem like one small change couldn’t possibly make much difference, there’s no doubting one healthy habit will inspire plenty more, whether it be a healthier lunch, a morning exercise routine or even just setting aside time to enjoy a delicious, nourishing breakfast before taking on the day.
