The days of suffering through dental X-rays may be numbered, thanks to new technology that allows dentists to take 3D images of your teeth in mere seconds, and use new software to help them plan out your dental treatments from the onset.
Imaging Sciences International is integrating Tx STUDIO with its i-CAT cone beam 3D system to allow dentists, orthodontists and other specialists to plan dental implants, orthodontics and surgical procedures with 3D images at lower doses of X-ray exposure for the patient.
The scans can be focused to just a small area or the entire head, depending on the doctor’s needs. Plus, scans take less than five seconds, providing a faster workflow for the dentist’s office, and less waiting around for you.
This is all good news because with the software, your dentist will be able to plan your entire treatment from the surgical placement of an implant, to the abutment, to the final restoration before beginning any of the treatment. The 3D images also give you a realistic look at what’s going on so you can see exactly what needs to be done to your teeth.
The 6th International Congress on 3D Dental Imaging event is scheduled for April 26-28 in Miami where dentists can learn more about the technology, so you can be sure it will soon start appearing in more offices around the country.
