It’s no secret that celebrities are quick to grab endorsements in the cosmetics industry. You can leave a department store smelling like a slew of different A-listers, but do you really want to go to work smelling like Britney Spears? While the majority of celebrities are famous for reasons worth endorsing, like talent, only select celebrities represent the style and poise that make us confident in applying a beauty product with their stamp of approval. Salma Hayek falls on that list. We completely admire her successful career and dazzling beauty.
During a luncheon late last week, the actress unveiled Nuance Salma Hayek, a 100-piece cosmetics line that will be released in August exclusively in 7,000 CVS Pharmacy stores and online. In an effort to immediately separate her project from other celebrity beauty disasters, Salma told Women’s Wear Daily, “I took three years off my [acting] career to work on this. This is not something that required 14 hours. Nooo, baby. This has been a full-time job.”
Hayek credits her grandmother as her inspiration for the project (that has been in the works for six years), a cosmetologist who used Native American and Mayan treatments. The Nuance range comprises everything from makeup to anti-aging skin care and experts are predicting sales of $35 million in the first year alone. We’re willing to try anything that might give us even a hint of Salma’s glow, are you?
