One of the most prevalent makeup trends I’ve seen for spring, summer and even fall is nude lips. But it’s also one of the most difficult looks to pull off. Last time it was given a go-round on the runways, my attempts to mimic it failed miserably. I picked borderline-chalky matte shades that too-perfectly matched my skin tone, making me appear more undead than alluring.
I’ve since learned that the key to pulling off nude lips is to not take it too literally. Paula Begoun, the skincare expert behind Paula’s Choice, obviously sees eye-to-eye with me, as demonstrated by her Sheer Cream Lipstick SPF 15. It comes in six shades-at least one will be outrageously flattering on you-and each has just enough nude undertones to let you stay true to the trend.
It doesn’t hurt that the formula is incredibly light and smooth, with a soft finish that falls in between matte and glossy. Plus, I love that it contains avobenzone, because sun protection is always in style.
