When a patient makes the difficult decision to undergo cosmetic surgery, they should be able to expect a natural and un-operated apppearance after their procedure. Cosmetic surgery should complement or enhance a patient’s own natural beauty.
Even if there are any significant changes that can be expected, the final result should appear totally natural with no sure-sign giveaway that the patient got their rejuvenated appearance through cosmetic surgery. This is as true for a facelift as it is for breast augmentation.
Swollen lips and a tight, windblown look to the face are not the kind of looks I want for my patients and not the look that most of my patients seek. My favorite take-home message for my patients is that the only person who should know that you had surgery is whom you choose to tell.
