HydraFacial MD

Time it takes: 30 minutes

The reason I love HydraFacial MD is because it’s great for all skin types. Not only is it highly effective at improving overall skin health, but it’s also excellent for remedying fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, elasticity and firmness, skin tone evenness and vibrancy, skin texture, hyperpigmentation/photo damage, oily/congested skin, and advanced signs of aging. The multistep treatment cleanses, evenly exfoliates and extracts to remove impurities and dead skin cells while at the same time replenishing vital nutrients including antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid. Thanks to the devices’ superior delivery system, these performing ingredients can more effectively help mitigate environmental damage, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and plump and firm skin for long-term results you can see and feel instantly. – Eagan, MN dermatologist Charles E. Crutchfield III, MD

Clear + Brilliant

Treatment time: 20 minutes

“One of the biggest procedures I call a “WOW” treatment that offers predictable results, minimal downtime and repeat requests for additional treatments is the Clear + Brilliant laser—there are two types, original and Permea. Clear + Brilliant is a diode system that is very similar to the technology of Fraxel, but uses lower energies, and therefore allows for an easier recovery. The original system 1440 wavelength is for improving skin texture, pore size and fine lines with a series of treatments. The 1927 Permea focuses on brown spots and also creates microchannels in the top layer of skin to allow for ‘permeation’ of topical skin brighteners. It gives great results for melasma and there is zero downtime after.” – Los Gatos, CA, dermatologist Steven Swengel, MD

PRP Filler Injections

Time it takes: 20 minutes

“One of my go-to treatments with amazing and immediate results is a PRP ‘liquid facelift.’ It fills in wrinkles and fine lines under the eyes and is a component of our ‘liquid facelift.’ PRP is completely natural; it harnesses a power of platelets, growth factors and cytokines naturally derived from your own blood. PRP does not contain any animal or synthetic components, so there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction, and the entire process takes about 20 minutes. A small aliquot of patient’s blood is removed and then spun down to concentrate the platelet-rich plasma. The plasma is then introduced to the unwanted lines on the face. This includes areas on the upper face such as the glabella and forehead, areas of the midface such as the periorbital lines, cheeks, nasolabial folds and smile lines. It also includes areas on the lower face such as the border of the lips, the lines from the lips to the chin and areas on the chin. Additionally, it can be used to treat dermal defects such as acne scars and pitting, and to rejuvenate the neck. Patients will see an immediate filling response that will persist for one to three days. However, after that, the plasma areas will be reabsorbed, and the platelet-rich growth factors will remain, causing increased cell growth and collagen production. The filling action will take place over one to two months. Noticeable results appear in about three to four weeks. Current reports indicate that it should last at least one year, and some reports are saying one to two years.” – Eagan, MN, dermatologist Charles E. Crutchfield III, MD

Excel V for Spider Veins and Redness

Time it takes: 15–30 minutes

“The Excel V is a short wavelength laser that targets pigment and vessels. It is great for the treatment of lower extremity spider veins or redness and flushing on the face. The veins tend to disappear almost immediately with no downtime, and the treatment is associated with extremely high patient satisfaction. In addition, results can last indefinitely.” New York dermatologist Neil Sadick, MD

DermaSweep

Time it takes: 20 minutes

DermaSweep is one of my favorite in-office treatments for a quick complexion refresh and glow. I love this combination of crystal-free microdermabrasion followed by an infusion of a customized solution, such a salicylic acid, which makes my skin look firmer and more radiant. Infusions can also be customized to include vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, or growth factors. There’s no downtime or the need to stop a regular skin care regimen. The procedure takes about 20 minutes and the results are immediate, which is why I this is one of my favorite treatments for anyone who wants to look “red carpet ready.” – San Antonio, TX dermatologist Vivian Bucay, MD
