When To Exercise After A Tummy Tuck

Believe it or not, even after an intense procedure like a tummy tuck, you still have to work out. That's right, even though we'd like them to be, these procedures aren't a “one and done” kind of deal. While they can give you a thinner, more sculpted appearance, diet and exercise are the keys to getting the results you want. But odds are that you're not going to be ready to work out the day after surgery, so we found out when you do have the green light.

What it really comes down to is that every patient is different and the best way to recover properly is to heed your doctor's advice. That said, most patients are typically advised to promote circulation the day after surgery by getting up and walking around their homes. And after about six weeks, most patients can resume (or start) an exercise plan.

However, if weight lifting is a part of the plan, it's better to gradually add it in. Try doing fewer repetitions and use lighter weights and work your way up from there. And above all, make sure you're listening to your body so you don't push it too far.
