Rejuvenating Resurfacing
Factors such as genetics and sun damage can make you look older than you are. CO2RE by Syneron Candela (a new generation of CO2 fractional resurfacing) can help reduce the appearance of age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, skin laxity, textural irregularities and dull or uneven tone, as well as improve collagen in the face, neck and chest.

Bye Bye Bulge
This 37-year-old female patient wanted to get rid of the bulge from her belly. She had a baby two years ago and hasn’t been able to get the last of the baby fat to go away. After one CoolSculpting treatment, the patient was able to accomplish her goals of a sleeker profile and a better fit in her clothes. Some people do need more than one treatment to achieve these results.
Philosophy
When a career as an artist took a turn toward medical school, Dr. Amy Forman Taub found a passion that stuck. Through her cosmetic dermatological practice, she now creates beauty of a different kind every day. “We bring someone’s inner beauty out. That’s the part I love,” says Dr. Taub. “My passion is dermatology. I never get tired of it or the satisfaction of being able to help people look and feel better.”
Expert Insight
Subtle Uplift
This patient is shown 60 days after one ePrime™ treatment and will continue to see improvement for another 30-60 days. The ePrime™ radio-frequency device tightens the skin and creates more elastic tissue in the area around the jowls and the wrinkles around the mouth. Though not a substitute for a facelift, the ePrime™ has been shown to provide a lifting effect.
Creating Youthful Contours
Desiring a nonsurgical method of rejuvenation, the patient shown here received a "liquid facelift" from Dr. Taub. Using multiple syringes of hyaluronic acid filler, Dr. Taub was able to enhance facial contours for an overall more refreshed look. "The after photo shows the patient with a more volumized and youthful appearance that was achieved without surgery," Dr. Taub says.
Feeling Beautiful
To feel beautiful is to be you at your best with a natural, not overdone, and younger look. This is the philosophy of Dr. Amy Taub, who believes in treating her patients with customized products and techniques to achieve a rejuvenated appearance. One such treatment that provides a subtle, refreshed look is Pellevé, a skin tightening, brightening and firming treatment. Pellevé uses radio-frequency energy to firm skin around the eyes (crow's-feet, under eye wrinkles and lax skin), cheeks, jowls, neck, lines on the forehead, nasolabial folds, sagging skin under the chin, wrinkles around the mouth, excess skin on the upper eyelids and wrinkles on chest cleavage. The treatment is painless with no downtime, so one can leave Advanced Dermatology and return back to work or a social engagement afterward.
Sculpting
Amid the choices of nonsurgical solutions to lose excess fat, a new technology called cryolipolysis has emerged as an option to battle the bulge and to sculpt. CoolSculpting® by Zeltiq® features a slow, precise method of cooling fat cells without causing damage to neighboring cells. At Advanced Dermatology, our patients are given a supervised treatment while watching their movie pick on our iPad as the pillow-like applicator goes to work on their belly bulge, muffin top, love handles or back fat. For some patients, results are seen within weeks. Like an artist touching up his or her masterpiece, we can complement the treatment with Thermage to tighten the skin.
Nonsurgical Solutions
The ePrime™ is a device that uses radio frequency to tighten the skin and create more volume by stimulating cells to make an increased amount of collagen and elastic tissue. Dr. Amy Forman Taub was one of the first physicians in the United States to incorporate this technology into her practice. “The ePrime™ fills a niche for patients in their 50s and 60s who are looking for an alternative treatment to plastic surgery but still want a lift and some firming,” says Dr. Taub. The patient is completely anesthetized so there is no discomfort. By heating the middle layer of skin to the right temperature with a hand piece, each pulse stimulates the formation of new collagen and tightens existing tissue. Dr. Taub collaborated with physicians who executed original research as well as other early adopter physicians on the ePrime™ technology. This partnership, her expertise with radio-frequency technology and her own early experiences with the device give Dr. Taub confidence when promising patients positive results with the ePrime™ treatment.
Rejuvenating Resurfacing
Patient is shown before and after a CO2 fractional resurfacing treatment. The skin responds to treatment, resulting in new collagen growth and a reduction in the components of sun damaged and aging skin. To see a desired result, a patient usually requires one treatment and experiences seven to 14 days of downtime.
Nonsurgical Facial Rejuvenation
Dr. Taub, one of the early adopters of Evolastin™ and recently featured on the eTwo and ePrime technology in Harper’s Bazaar and Michigan Avenue Magazine, explains that “Evolastin fills a niche for patients in their 50s and 60s who are looking for an alternative treatment to plastic surgery but still want a lift and some firming.” Evolastin uses radio-frequency to tighten the skin of the jowls and neck and stimulate cells to make more collagen and elastic tissue. The treatment also reduces wrinkling, especially in the cheeks. The patient is completely anesthetized so there is no discomfort. By heating the middle layer of skin with a hand piece to the right temperature, each pulse stimulates the formation of new collagen and tightens existing tissue. Dr. Taub’s expertise with radio-frequency technology and “liquid facelifts” gives her confidence when promising patients positive results from noninvasive facial rejuvenation.
Subduing Sun Damage
Genetics, aging and sun-damaged skin can make you look older than your real age. CO2RE™ by Syneron Candela (a new generation of CO2 fractional resurfacing) can help reduce the appearance of age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, uneven coloration, skin laxity, textural irregularities, dull tone, and improve collagen in the face, neck and chest. The skin continues to improve for a period of six months following the procedure. These improvements can be enhanced by using proper skin care and minimizing sun exposure. The fall is a perfect time to correct summer’s sun damage and get your skin looking radiant for the holiday season. Your new appearance will leave your skin looking natural and healthy. Dr. Taub’s passion for healthy skin and expertise in skin care led her to develop the CORE 4 skin-care regimen in which she recommends the daily use of an antioxidant and sunscreen product, which are essential after a resurfacing treatment. To maintain your new healthy skin and to slow down the aging process, Dr. Taub recommends adding a growth factor product and an exfoliant, the two remaining items from the CORE 4 program.

Nonsurgical Solutions
Whether you are looking to lose excess fat from pregnancy, or your exercise and dieting are not working, a nonsurgical solution called cryolipolysis can solve the problem. A cryolipolysis treatment called CoolSculpting features a slow, precise method of cooling fat cells without causing damage to neighboring cells. At Advanced Dermatology our patients are given a supervised treatment while watching a movie of their choice on our iPad as the device's applicator goes to work on their belly bulge, muffin top, love handles or back fat. For some patients, results are seen within weeks. To maximize results, we can complement the treatment with Thermage, to tighten the skin and get your body back without surgery.

About my practice:
My practice offers laser and aesthetic services and is home to my skin-care boutique, skinfo®, which offers more than 400 skin-care products, including its own eponymous line. It also hosts professional skin-care and makeup consultations, using skinfo® Mineral Makeup, Colorscience® and glominerals™ makeup and the novel VISIA® Complexion Analysis. In 2007, skinfo® expanded its boutique to the retail level and is open to the public daily without an appointment.
I'm accessible, I listen and I care.
I prefer Pulsed Dye Laser for pure rosacea, but some people don't respond to it. If they also have scattered brown spots or sun damage then I use IPL (Intense Pulsed Light).
You can use IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) if you have a lot of brown spots. Or, if you have just a few, you can use a Q-Switched laser, which takes off individual spots very specifically. The Fraxel Dual laser has an added wavelength that can treat for spots, too. You can also use a combo of retinoids, lightening agents and chemical peels, if it's an all-over area. It does work for some people, but it depends on what level in the skin you can get to.
I recommend Botox, fillers and tissue tightening. They're all nonsurgical and garner impressive results.
It's a new energy-based device that tightens tissue and ads volume in the face in a precise way by applying two rows of needles that send heat into the deeper part of the dermis where there are lots of cells that make new collagen. The higher temperatures stimulate those cells, achieving new elastic tissue and collagen. It's very consistent, unlike other tissue tightening devices (some are difficult to tolerate and depend on the thickness of the skin). With ePrime, we are firing the same place every time, so it's a huge stimulus that the body ignores. We are making fluffy new tissue to elevate the skin surface. It's a very natural looking correction, but in multiple studies, when compared to a facelift, it can only do a third of what a facelift can achieve.
I recommend the core four: Sunscreen, antioxidants, growth factors and retinols, or alphahydroxy acids (if they can't tolerate retinols). They should use sunscreen with five percent zinc oxide every single day. It all adds up. Antioxidants, when applied to the skin, help maintain skin health by soaking up free radicals before they damage the cell, and they are a cofactor to making collagen. You also need something to stimulate growth. There are two biologically relevant, complicated products that have growth factors in them that you can get from dermatologists: TNS serum by SkinMedica and Neocutis Bio-Restorative cream. And, you should use retinol or Retin-A to exfoliate dead skin cells as well as to stimulate the skin's natural collagen production. Or, if can't tolerate them, then AHAs. If you are super-sensitive, then you can use a Clarisonic face-cleansing brush. Anybody can use this regimen for skin health, if you are over 30. Before 30, use sunscreen.
About me:
I had a successful career as a dermatologist in a group practice for 13 years, but really wanted to strike out on my own, and had a vision of what was possible. In 2003, I found a loft-like space and opened my own dermatology practice.
