Techniques for rejuvenating the face are constantly evolving. “In addition to volume in the mid-face, we now pay closer attention to lateral volume,” Dr. Fitzgerald says. “By treating this patient with Sculptra® Aesthetic, off label, in the temples and cheeks, we were able to restore a more youthful facial shape.”

In years past, turning back the clock meant going under the knife. “Today, we have many options,” says Dr. Fitzgerald. “The current understanding that volume loss contributes much to the appearance of the face as we age, in combination with the advent of new procedures and techniques, has dramatically increased the ability to address these changes outside of the operating room.” Volume replacement, although not a substitute for surgery, may delay or enhance cosmetic surgical procedures. Likewise, as understanding about the location of volume loss and optimal targets for replacement improves, so do our results. “Looking younger has a lot to do with how light and shadow play off your facial features, as well as the shape and proportions of your face.” Dr. Fitzgerald is a member of the Botox® Cosmetic National Education Faculty and Bioform Medical Education Faculty, and is a national and international trainer for Sculptra® Aesthetic. “It’s a very exciting time in our field, and I feel very lucky,” she says.
Dr. Rebecca Fitzgerald focuses her anti-aging approach on looking good for your age—refreshed, relaxed and, above all, natural. "Even the most critical eye should think you were just born lucky," she says."

The antidote to premature aging is multi-pronged sun protection, diet, adequate rest and exercise.
As a person in my early 50s, I understand my clients' concerns about aging. I'm very candid about what I've had done and it helps affirm that you can look refreshed without looking 'done.' I've learned that it's best to correct a little bit all along rather than waiting for substantial changes that make correction more costly and extensive.
I like seeing how small changes can make a big difference in people's lives.

It depends - Ultherapy began as a "deep-level" tightening treatment with focused ultrasound that reached the same levels as a surgical facelift (an area called the SMAS).
As the technology matures, new applications are coming on board and we're able to do both deep and more superficial tightening with the same device.
Thermage and some other procedures use what's referred to as "bulk heating", so there is not the intense response focal area as you get with Ultherapy.
Bulk heating is just that - the area treated is not as finely targeted (nor is it as deep as ultrasound) and the heat disperses instead of narrowing.
But be aware: all devices that use heat generation will be more effective on those who are not on the more mature end of the treatment spectrum. That's another reason not to put off treating thinking it's better to wait until things get obviously "in need". By then it may take a lot more to make a difference.
