With a neck lift, which is actually a face lifting procedure. We can also use Ultherapy (a non-invasive device that uses focused ultrasound energy to lift the skin on the face and neck). It’s a new treatment that is about 30 percent effective. It tightens, but doesn’t treat the problem entirely.
Turkey neck is treated when you do a facelift by contouring the muscles under the jawline and redraping and removing the excess skin. It can also be done as an isolated procedure known as a necklift. We make an incision confined to the area, behind as well as under the chin. The lax muscles are tightened, fat is removed and the excess skin is removed and redraped.
Turkey neck refers to the droopy, hanging loose, skin bands of the neck. They can be loose muscle and loose skin at same time. If that is the case, we do a neck lift and platysmaplasty, where we tighten the platysma (the flat wide muscle) from jaw line to collar bone. As we age these muscles separate from the midline causing two bands to form down the front of the neck. We make a tiny scar under the chin and sew the muscles together; then we pull the skin laterally behind the ear, removing the excess skin.
A 'turkey neck is most improved using a combination of liposuction of the neck in conjunction with a face and neck lift.
