reading between the lines
Patients can expect personalized attention and individualized care from Dr. Stephanie Marschall, a board-certified dermatologist in the Wheaton, Chicago area. “My patients don’t always know what they want; they just want to feel better about the way they look,” she says. “Together, we devise a course of treatment that’s best for them.”
Dr. Marschall spends much of her time educating patients, informing them about available procedures and creating unique, customized treatment plans that cater to each patient’s respective medical and cosmetic needs. This highly individualized science accounts for each patient’s lifestyle and expectations, further contributing to the final results. “I don’t push people beyond their comfort levels. There are many different avenues patients can pursue in order to reach their desired goals.”

Dr. Marschall’s dermatological practice is not only customized; it’s extensive, too. Available treatments include a full range of tissue augmentation services, Botox®, photorejuvenation, skin tightening and micro laser peels. Similarly, multiple aesthetician services, including therapeutic facials and rejuvenating microdermabrasions, complement the practice. “I’m really a combination person. At a dinner party, you don’t just serve an entrée alone. Likewise, we look at the whole cosmetic picture and explore the best comprehensive approach.”

To further expand the scope of services Dr. Marschall can offer her patients, she works in conjunction with Dr. Michael Marschall, a board-certified plastic surgeon. Together, they provide a full spectrum of aesthetic procedures at Plastic Surgery Consultants of DuPage. In terms of the practice’s dermatological aspect, Dr. Marschall likens skin care to financial security. “A $100 monthly deposit in an IRA will grow into quite a nest egg in 10 years. Your skin is no different. The repetition of subtle procedures on a recurrent basis can earn an abundance of aesthetic interest over time.”

Q: What youth-enhancing procedures do you recommend for women who are just beginning to notice initial signs of aging? A: While everyone ages at different rates, it’s never too early to start taking care of your skin, preventing and slowing the signs of aging. Using an SPF of at least 30 on a daily basis, as well as topical antioxidants, helps promote skin integrity and preserve youthful elasticity. Regardless of your age, it’s important to maintain proper at-home efforts, which will help augment any in-office procedures you undergo. Initial signs of aging, like dullness, rough texture and a lackluster complexion, can be addressed through microdermabrasion and photorejuvenation procedures. Fractional laser treatments can help address acne scars plus the color, texture and tone changes that result from photodamage, as well as fine lines and wrinkles. For loss of volume, fillers restore fullness. Over the years, I have found that a combination of treatments, tailored to each patient’s specific aesthetic concerns, coupled with sound at-home efforts, contributes to an effective long-term plan that not only reverses the signs of aging but prevents them as well.
