Elegant and Side Swept
Not all ultraglam styles have to be perfectly coiffed and predictable looking. In fact, celebrity stylist Rod Ortega, who created this look, says that a deconstructed style is sophisticated for a big night out.
Step 1: Wave Maker
Starting with already smooth hair, Ortega used a 1-inch curling iron to create soft curls. “Start from the middle of the hair and work your way down to the ends selecting random pieces to give a little bit of bend plus texture,” he explains.
Step 2: Unexpected Twist
“I blew the bangs to the side and, using that same round brush, I brushed out Stacy’s curls with her head upside down. That really gives it that sexy messed-up look.”
Step 3: Set It
Before the look is “sculpted,” spray with a finishing hairspray. Wrap and twist the hair into a circle (not a bun), letting some pieces fall out, and pin into place with matte bobby pins. More hairspray gives hold so the look remains elegant yet sleek.
