When you don't want to wear a face full of makeup, tinted moisturizer is the product to turn to. Different from traditional moisturizer but not dense like liquid foundation, this makeup must-have provides hydration and coverage. Not only that, it can oftentimes give a more natural makeup look than heavy foundation or powder.

But just like with other makeup and skin-care products, not all tinted moisturizers are one size fits all. That's why we created a cheat sheet for you to find the best one for your own unique skin concerns. Click through this gallery of the best 10 tinted moisturizers to find your new favorite.

Best for Calming Red, Irritated Skin

Dr. Hauschka Toned Day Cream ($40)

Park skin reviver, part face tint, this botanical-based cream is loaded with good-for-your-complexion extracts to alleviate redness typically casued by rosacea and acne. Gentle mineral pigments lend a dose of safe-for-your-skin color as they won't further irritate the skin.

Best for Mature Skin

Clarins Super Restorative Tinted Cream ($79)

Tinted moisturizer works well on more mature skin because of its hydrating advantages. This one does just that but takes it to another level by utilizing free-radical and sun damage-defending ingredients to fight the signs to aging, too.

Best for Body Use

Youngblood Mineral Illuminating Tint Body ($37.50)

Like the skin on our face, the skin on our body needs moisture too and sometimes, coverage. That's where this tinted body moisturizer comes in. The argan and avocado oil-laden lotion blends in effortlessly and doesn’t transfer.

Tinted moisturizers vs. foundation: What's the difference?

Tinted moisturizer and foundation conceal but celebrity makeup artist John Stapleton says the biggest difference is coverage. "Foundations give a matte or dewey finish based on ingredients. Tinted moisturizer contains less pigment so there's less coverage." Celebrity makeup artist Anthony Merante adds, "Tinted moisturizer is a two-in-one. Most liquid foundations don't leave the skin feeling hydrated."

Best for a Perfect Color Match

Revision Skincare Intellishade SPF 45 Matte ($48)

Take the guesswork out of trying to find that just right shade with this anti-aging tinted moisturizer. Intellishade technology ensures a seamless match every time, even as your skin tone subtly shifts throughout the year.

Best for Medium Coverage

Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Tinted Moisturizer ($30)

Packing minerals, vitamins and antioxidants into a rich texture, this tinted moisturizer helps even out sallow-looking skin while locking much-needed moisture into place all day.

Best for an Ethereal Glow

Jouer Luminzing Moisture Tint ($38)

Not only does this tinted moisturizer hydrate, the oil-free, SPF 20 formula is laden with light-diffusing minerals to create a beautiful, natural glow while protecting against UV rays and free radicals.

How to Find a Good Tinted Moisturizer

1) Choose a product with the same undertones as your natural skin tone. "Don't go with something that’s too pink. Instead, stick with more neutral tones," says Merante.

2) Look for one that caters to your skin type and skin's needs.

3) If you want to fake a golden glow, Merante suggests using a tinted moisturizer one shade darker than your skin and blending it down into your neck for sheer color.

Best for a Little Lift

Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturizer ($55)

Most tinted moisturizers hydrate and give coverage but this oil-free, vegan version is brimming with the brand's peptide-based Instalift complex and hyaluronic filling spheres to give a lifted, tighter look in just one hour.

Best for an Anti-Aging Effect

RėVive Tinted Moisturizer ($85)

Besides providing some color while fighting the effects of aging with SPF 15, this double-duty moisturizer infuses the skin with proven antioxidants like vitamin E and epidermal growth factors, to renew and rejuvenate by upping the rate of cell renewal.

Best for a Dose of Sun Protection

Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer ($42)

The latest release from the makeup extraordinaire Francois Nars, this French Polynesian–inspired, serum-like moisturizer, laden with SPF 30 and key anti-agers, leaves the skin protected, but not "made-up," and shielded from the sun.

Best for Blemished Skin

Lush Colour Supplement ($16)

Available in five different shades to perfectly blend into your skin, this moisturizer gives a flawless look for even those with less-than-perfect skin. They provide enough coverage to conceal blemishes and redness, while still providing a dewy glow and are mineral oil-free.

Lilith is 100% right, Covergirl Tinted Moisturizer (AKA changed to BB Cream) has always been a favorite of mine. Affordable and does all you'd expect from a tinted moisturizer. This article IS too expensive.

Face it ladies, the Covergirl Tinted Moisturizer, now called BB Cream works beautifully for under $10. I use the light to fair and add a tiny touch of moisturizer and or illuminator to it before applying with a sponge. Works great. No need to spend big bucks for the same thing.

Hi VG - Check out the Lush website which has a store locator on the top. I've seen their stores pop up in various malls so there may be one close by.
