“I enjoy getting to know my patients”
While cosmetic dermatology is his forte, Dr. Chris W. Sciales takes an approach to patient care that is more than skin deep. The third -generation physician often advises patients who are distraught over fine lines, sunspots and other aging symptoms to look within, rather than just solely at the mirror. “Stress plays such a big role in the appearance of the skin,” says the Diamond Level Botox® provider. “That ’s why I encourage my patients to find a good balance between work and family, to eat properly and to get lots of exercise; if you feel good on the inside, it radiates on the outside.”
WHY DO YOU EMPLOY A MINIMALIST APPROACH?
Whether I’m erasing a wrinkle, treating a rash or applying a chemical peel, I proceed with a cautious hand. You can always go back and do more, but I like to start out slowly and use combination treatments to achieve the desired end result.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO PUT PATIENTS AT-EASE?
Ever intent on helping patients feel better, I routinely relax them with my disarming sense of humor. And when a good joke isn’t enough, a good piece of chocolate is a sure bet. I’m an aspiring gourmet cook and often bring my brownies in for patients to enjoy.
HOW DO YOU ENGAGE PATIENTS AND INVOLVE THEM IN THEIR PROCEDURE?
When applicable, I offer patients the option of holding a mirror while I perform their procedure, so they can add their input. I have found that greater patient involvement yields greater patient satisfaction because when patients get to impart their opinions, they tend to be more pleased with the outcome.
