When a patient comes to see you, how do you proceed?
When it comes to performing procedures, I first assess a patient’s concerns and then decide whether they would be best-served by either a laser, injectable or removal of a skin cancer in a cosmetic unit of concern. To be as expansive as possible, I offer a full suite of injectables, from Botox and Dysport to fillers like Restylane, Perlane, Juvéderm and Sculptra Aesthetic.
What can I do to treat the sensitive skin around my eyes?
Dr. Richardson’s new line of NaturaMD products has three different topical treatments to address eye concerns. First, NaturaMD Relax reduces the appearance of bags. It contains hesperidin, which reduces the congestion associated with the puffiness of eyes. NaturaMD Erase, with peptides and kojic acid, combats the dark circles under the eyes. Finally, the antioxidant-packed NaturaMD Restore Complex helps build collagen with peptides and essential vitamins. All of the products contain the antioxidant green tea, which studies have shown decreases collagen breakdown, protects new collagen, protects against UV damage and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. Including green tea was an important part of creating the line. “It was really exciting to find a formulation that can really penetrate the skin,” Dr. Richardson says. “We’re able to now get through the epidermis because of the exciting changes over the past few years in cosmetics.”

In order to offer more comprehensive aesthetic options to his patients, Dr. Richardson has recently added two new FDA-approved noninvasive treatments to his practice. “It’s important to me to have these options so patients can address the whole body without going under the knife,” Dr. Richardson says. First, CoolSculpting® by Zeltiq™ is a fat reduction device, that uses cryolipolisis to freeze fat cells, which the body can then absorb over time. Second, Ulthera®, a skin tightening and lifting device, uses high-intensity ultrasonic energy to lift and contract skin of the brows and the body [off label]. “It’s really incredible technology, and I’m the first practice in Broward County to offer Ulthera,” Dr. Richardson says.
