Doctor Q&A
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
What I like most is creating positive changes in people’s lives. Patients are happy and appreciative when you do this, and you can see it when they come back for follow-ups. They just light up. It’s nice to be able to do something that makes people happy that way.
INSIDE INFORMATION
A PASSION FOR RHINOPLASTY
Because reshaping the nose is one of the most complex of all facial procedures, Dr. Godin says he could never get bored doing it. “It’s endlessly fascinating to me. It is also the most unforgiving of all cosmetic procedures, so you must go to someone who knows what he’s doing and has enough experience. The nose is an architectural and functional structure; you have to be able to breathe well through the new shape. To make the needed changes in such a confined space, and to anticipate the way the nose will heal and look years down the line, takes both science and art.” The challenging nature of rhinoplasty has led Dr. Godin to his current project, a major new textbook on rhinoplasty written for surgeons. Once published, the book will contain case studies from him and other rhinoplasty surgeons from around the world. “For me this is a labor of love,” he says.
