fulfilling dreams
Individuals visiting Dr. Lloyd B. Gayle’s New York Upper East Side brownstone are assured of high standards and quality care. He considers his patient’s ethnicity and the framework of the face, breast and body to guide him in enhancing and refining certain elements.
“My progression from a reconstructive focus to one centered on cosmetic plastic surgery was a natural evolution for me,” says Dr. Gayle, whose discerning eye for detail, thorough approach and honed skills are results of his extensive training and experience. “My comprehensive work with reconstruction patients has enriched my understanding of the human body, expanding my surgical capabilities in terms of technical precision and meticulousness.” As the chief of plastic surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital Cornell campus, Dr. Gayle relays his proficiency to residents, instilling in them the value of integrity and training them to become respectable plastic surgeons. Making an impact in the community, however, is nothing new for this veteran plastic surgeon. “I truly love what I do,” says Dr. Gayle of his ability to improve the lives of others through his plastic surgery procedures. Dr. Gayle works with an intimate, supportive team. “Our office prides itself on the personal care it offers patients,” he says. “Everyone here is devoted to providing compassionate, high-end service and creating a nurturing environment where patients feel comfortable, respected and cared for.”

Dr. Gayle believes in in-depth explanations, and when discussing his patient’s goals he takes that extra step and includes a discussion of incisions as well as scarring that might occur from a particular procedure so the patient totally understands what to expect and there aren’t any surprises.
Nothing is omitted from the conversation. In fact, he teaches his residents at New York Presbyterian Hospital Cornell that the key to good patient relationships is listening to the patient’s desires because plastic surgery involves making their dreams come true.

Inside Information
RECONSTRUCTING BEAUTY AFTER A MASTECTOMY
In the painful aftermath of a mastectomy, breast reconstruction can restore the spirit and make a breast cancer patient feel whole again. Dr. Gayle takes it even one step further providing the additional option of the DIEP FLAP TECHNIQUE (which stands for DEEP INFERIOR EPIGASTRIC PERFORATOR) for the restoration of natural and alluring breasts while avoiding the use of implants or the routine use of the abdominal muscle. During the surgery, skin and fatty tissue from the lower abdomen is transplanted to the breast, thus providing similar tissue for contouring and reconstructing breast volume. In addition, this provides the added benefit of improving the abdominal contour as with an abdominoplasty.
