In years past, turning back the clock meant going under the knife. “Today, we have many options,” says Dr. Fitzgerald. “The current understanding that volume loss contributes much to the appearance of the face as we age, in combination with the advent of new procedures and techniques, has dramatically increased the ability to address these changes outside of the operating room.” Volume replacement, although not a substitute for surgery, may delay or enhance cosmetic surgical procedures.
