“injectables can make a dramatic difference”

Doctor Q&A
HOW DO YOU RELATE TO PATIENTS?
As a person in my early 50s, I understand my clients’ concerns about aging. I’m very candid about what I’ve had done and it helps affirm that you can look refreshed without looking “done.” I’ve learned that it’s best to correct a little bit all along rather than waiting for substantial changes that make correction more costly and extensive.

INSIDE INFORMATION
NONINVASIVE INNOVATIONS
In years past, turning back the clock meant going under the knife. “Today, we have many options,” says Dr. Fitzgerald. “The current understanding that volume loss contributes much to the appearance of the face as we age, in combination with the advent of new procedures and techniques, has dramatically increased the ability to address these changes outside of the operating room.” Volume replacement, although not a substitute for surgery, may delay or enhance cosmetic surgical procedures. Likewise, as understanding about the location of volume loss and optimal targets for replacement improves, so do our results. “Looking younger has a lot to do with how light and shadow play off your facial features, as well as the shape and proportions of your face.” Dr. Fitzgerald is a member of the Botox® Cosmetic National Education Faculty and Bioform Medical Education Faculty, and is a national and international trainer for Sculptra® Aesthetic. “It’s a very exciting time in our field, and I feel very lucky,” she says.
