Why moms-to-be should say no to a "C-tuck"

Why moms-to-be should say no to a "C-tuck"

Posted Friday, July 30, 2010

Many women correlate tummy tucks and C-sections, but the only similarities between the two surgeries are the placement of the scar and the potential intensity of the recovery. In fact, many patients feel that there is less pain with a tummy tuck than with a C-section because it is limited to the area above the muscles and not deep into the abdomen.

Despite the fact that the scars may be similar, a tummy tuck and a C-section are two totally different surgeries and should not be performed simultaneously. When you’re pregnant, there is a surge of hormones, fluid and weight—it’s difficult to decipher how much fat is the result of pregnancy, how much will be lost and how slack the skin actually is.

Any doctor who offers to perform a tummy tuck immediately after a patient has given birth should be viewed with extreme caution. Most reputable plastic surgeons recommend waiting six months to let your body heal before considering any kind of procedure.

I had 2 c sections and a tummy tuck and they are VERY different procedures! I dont think an obgyn should be able to do cosmetic surgery - seems weird!
