Get glowing cheeks with a glaze of glory

Posted Wednesday, July 28, 2010 by Marci Robin, NewBeauty Senior Online Editor

As a beauty editor, it's bizarre to me that I went over 30 years without getting a mini Mary Kay makeover. (Isn't it a rite of passage?) But I recently found myself willingly barefaced, seated across from Darlene Misciagno, Mary Kay maven, who took me through an impressive array of skincare and makeup that I'd never tried before.

Even though I liked just about everything that came in contact with my face, one product in particular jumped out at me as a must-have: Cheek Glaze.

I'm such a lip balm addict that I sometimes wear tinted ones on my cheeks, but Cheek Glaze is essentially lip balm made for your cheeks. Made with skin-loving ingredients like watermelon seed oil, peach, mandarin orange peel oil and vitamin E, it practically flows on with its super-smooth application.

Instead of the traditionally matte finish of powder blush, Cheek Glaze leaves a dewy finish that makes my complexion glow in a perfectly summery way. I picked the Tangerine shade because it seems made for my fair skin, but each of the limited-edition hues are fabulously flattering.

You can order it from any Mary Kay sales rep, but if you don't already know one, I'm sure Darlene would be happy to help!

Nathan Johnson | Celebrity Makeup Artist
I am a big fan of emollient blushes. A dewy glow on the cheeks adds amazing youth and vitality to the face. Dry blushes tend to sit on the skin and look like 'blush'. This can age the face. The glow of a cream or glaze blush makes it appear that the healthy color is rolling up from inside the body. That is the secret to using your blush to look younger!

Not so much when you have oily acne skin. It looks like a shinny glob! Your forgot to mention that cream is good except for oily problem skin.
