Stop stress and see a difference in your skin and body

Posted Thursday, September 24, 2009

Stress may be hard to escape, but you can control the way that you deal with it. If you don't, you may see your body respond in ways that could stress you out even further.

When your body can't reach a relaxed and calm state and is under extreme amounts of ongoing daily stress, production of the stress hormone cortisol revs up, causing an increase in oil production. Once the skin harbors excess oil, it can appear greasy, and your pores can become clogged with sebum, giving way to acne.

In addition to negatively impacting your skin, increased cortisol can also have adverse effects on other parts of the body, affecting fat, metabolism, and retention of salt and fluid.

The best way to keep your stress levels down is by eating well, breathing properly, learning to balance and deal with your stress, and getting an adequate amount of sleep every night. It's essential to take time for yourself every day and find ways to unwind and decompress, whether at home or at a spa.

Amen! I do Yoga to help me. Also, when my shoulders start to reach my ear lobes, I use my bucky bodywrap with lavender sachet to help ease then down. IT WORKS!
