Who doesn’t love the look (and smell) of freshly washed hair? Not every good hair day commands the ritual of shampooing, conditioning, blow-drying and styling—especially on those days when you’re hard pressed for time. Squeaky-clean strands can be had, and they don’t require you to lather, rinse and repeat. All you need is a good dry shampoo and you’re set.
According to celebrity stylist Allie Paronelli, dry shampoo refreshes hair by soaking up excess oil that accumulates on the scalp between shampoos. “It can also make your blowout last longer and give good volume when needed.” Paronelli suggests spraying the product just on your roots (hold the bottle five to six inches away to avoid overuse) and let it sit for a few minutes before brushing it through. Two of her favorites: R+CO Death Valley Dry Shampoo, randco.com, $29, and Philip Kingsley One More Day Dry Shampoo, philipkingsley.com, $25.
