Whether you know him from his iconic role as John B on the Netflix show Outer Banks or from his romance with country singer Kelsea Ballerini, Chase Stokes has established himself as quite the talent in the past few years. All Outer Banks fans know that the shows protagonist, John B, is a high school heartthrob, but Stokes himself is nearing 31 years old, which means he relies on a tried-and-true skin-care routine—which includes a certain SPF moisturizer—to keep him looking youthful on camera and off.
In a recent interview with Byrdie, Stokes got real about all things grooming, including the steps he has to take in order to keep himself looking youthful enough to play a 17-year-old on camera. “Your boy is 30 years old now, but he’s gotta play 17 on TV, so I gotta make sure I’m looking young,” he jokes. But, in reality, he’s serious about his skin-care. “I always carry a moisturizer with me. I’ve been using Armani’s moisturizer ($280) with a little SPF in it.”
Not only does Stokes rely on a powerful moisturizer and SPF to keep him shining, he also revealed that Dirt’s styling products are essential in creating his boyishly charming, John B hair. “It’s my literal favorite product for my hair and it may or may not be the secret to John B.’s hair,” he explains.
Though he has his own line up of trusted products to keep him looking and feeling his best, Stokes’ philosophy on skin care is quite simple, and we could all take note. “Stay hydrated. Stay hydrated and use SPF because the sun can be your best friend and it can be your worst enemy.”
