Giada De Laurentiis Shares Her Best Beauty Advice featured image

Giada De Laurentiis has been a household name for years, so it’s hard to believe that she only just opened her very first restaurant, Giada, located in The Cromwell in Las Vegas. Every single detail in the gorgeous space, from the décor to the food, reflects all of the love and thought that she applies to every facet of her life. That also includes her beauty routine.

We asked our readers what they wanted to know about the Clairol Natural Instincts ambassador’s beauty routine on social media and here’s what she had to say:

How do you use your recipes to maintain your beauty?

What I like to do is use the least amount of ingredients in my recipes as possible and that has been the biggest challenge here in a restaurant because the type of ingredients that restaurants use are not the type that I like to use at home. Olive oil to me is sort of a key to feeling good to great skin to great nails to just shiny hair, so I try to include olive oil for all of that. Coconut oil is another one that’s become super popular and something I use on my hands and on my hair. I also like to cook with it. I think about all the ingredients and make sure that they’re the healthiest possible things I can use.

How do you get such voluminous hair?

First of all, I condition starting from the middle of my hair going down. I never condition the top of the crown area because that’s where your hair is the greasiest anyway. You don’t need to put any conditioner there or it’ll go flat. So if you want volume up [top] you only condition [the ends]. I use the Natural Instincts conditioner in the box.

Also, keeping you hair colored and not letting a lot of grays grow in will help give volume. [The color] fills the cuticle. Natural Instincts [contains] coconut oil which has amino acids in it that keep your hair full so that it bounces a lot after you blow-dry it.

What do you do to get glowing skin?

I exfoliate all the time. Whether I use an exfoliator that I buy or one that I make from scratch, I exfoliate every single night. I do use coconut oil or olive oil on my cuticles, lips and sometimes on the crow’s feet because I have dry skin from all the traveling I do. As we get older, we get dryer and dryer, so staying hydrated is the most important thing. I carry on a little Evian spray bottle of water and I spray it as much as possible to stay hydrated.

What’s your favorite lip color?

Right now, I like a Make Up For Ever bright red shade. I keep it in my bag because I can put it on at any time and all the attention goes to my lips and no where else if I haven’t been able to cover certain things I don’t like. It’s a quick makeover that takes no time.

How do you maintain your great figure and still eat delicious food?

There are chandeliers in the middle of the [restaurant] dining room that say, “I eat a little bit of everything and not a lot of anything.” I don’t ever eat a huge meal and if I do overdo it one day, I tailor it back the next. I do a lot of yoga—at least three to four days a week. I usually do it very early in the morning before my daughter gets up. I also like to paddle surf in the ocean. I basically like to do workouts that help me breathe and really elongate.
