Poll: Would You Try These Colorful Techniques to Lose Weight?

We join programs, count calories and sweat bullets at the gym all in the name of weight loss. So why not add one more thing to help you lose those last 10 pounds before holiday party season, even if it’s a little colorful?

Several studies have revealed that the color of your servingware can actually make a difference in how much food you eat. We’ve written before about a study that found that those who ate on red plates or drank from red cups actually ate and drank less than they did when using other colors. But it doesn’t end there.

Another study published in the Journal of Consumer Research says that people ate 21 percent less when they used plates with colors that contrasted from the food they were eating. For example, eating pasta with red sauce on a bright white plate. What’s more, the researchers also found that people ate 10 percent less when the tablecloth contrasted their food too.

Researchers have also found that blue is a natural appetite suppressant. That means that if you’re trying to lose weight, surround yourself with that specific hue. Try a blue tablecloth, a blue centerpiece, or if you’re feeling adventurous, paint your walls blue.

With research backing up these claims, we want to know, would you try these colorful techniques to lose weight? Tell us in the comments!

I would use colored centerpieces, napkins or tablecloths on my own but I would hate to put an appetite suppressing color on my kitchen walls! I want my guests to want to eat :)
