The bond between a woman and her hair is one that simply can’t be explained. We’re attached to our hair just as much as we’re attached to our cell phones. After all, hair is the accessory of the beauty world.

Could this be why we feel heartbreak and anguish after a bad hair cut or dye job? When our hairstylist cuts off more than we bargained for, it can even warrant a meltdown. So it’s safe to say that we spend a good amount of time contemplating all new hairstyles. That is, unless you are fearless when it comes to your hair. After all, it grows back right?

Since a new hair cut or color is a very personal decision, we want to know about you. How often do you update your hair? Tell us in the comments below and don’t forget to include your most drastic hair makeover!

I have been stuck in a hair rut for the last several years. My African American hair is natural extremely frizzy, so I wear it curly - but I'm sick of that. My hair is breast length and and starting to early gray. I've even gotten to lazy to continue to have it colored. I once had a really cool bob when I was in my teens - you know, the age when you're fearless and fashionable. I even wore it purple for a few years. Now I'm heading into my late 30s with a frizzy bun because it's too much work to tame!

a fun way to change your look without a major commitment is clip in hair extentions. You can try bangs or a pony for the night and feel like a different person. Thats the Blow and Go way...

Weighing in for the definite minority: I'm one of those people who just doesn't change their hair. I figured out in kindergarten that "long" worked quite nicely; I've been growing it ever since, and it's around knee-length now. (It's been seventeen years.) Scoff if you wish (I know some of you are!), but it's cheap, simple, and healthy; no blow-drying, curling, straightening, perming, daily washing, or styling product is required (except when singing onstage - I'm studying to be a classical singer - and even then, it's nothing more than a spritz of hairspray). And best of all: I HAVE NO BAD HAIR DAYS. My last bad hair day happened in first grade when I tried to cut my bangs for myself (I got sick of them while trying to grow them out). It looks great by default every day, and it looks fabulously elegant when I dress formally. It goes up into a bun in under thirty seconds and then I'm set for the day; I know men who spend more time, energy, and money on their hair than I do on mine. It's dignified and cute and everyone always asks how I get such a nice, simple bun! (No one realizes how long it is unless I wear it down...) I trim it whenever it occurs to me, which is a somewhat regular basis. I don't let split ends linger and I do use leave-in conditioner. Just because it's long doesn't mean I don't take good care of it. I do wear make-up, jewelry, and nice clothing. I follow fashion to the best of my budget-conscious ability. I'm not a hippie, a vegan, or part of any religion or philosophical movement which requires my hair to be uncut. I'm just a little lazy (60s of effort per morning!), a little broke (seriously, where do music students find the money to go to salons on a regular basis?) and a lot lucky (to have figured my hair around circa age six!) My philosophy: if it's not broken, why fix it?
