Dry Shampoo Now Has a Sidekick
We still remember the day when we first used dry shampoo...and it was love at first spray. This miracle in a can has helped us make our blowouts last an extra day and has allowed us to stay fresh after a workout. But this super hero now has a sidekick, a Robin to it’s Batman—dry conditioner!
Dry conditioner is a way to lightly condition and add shine to your hair in between washes. This handy spray can even help smooth your strands, and many stylists use is as a finishing spray. What’s more, it does all of this without weighing those luscious locks down.
While you use dry shampoo on the roots of your hair, you use dry conditioner on the ends—mid-length to the ends, to be exact. Talk about a team effort!
One noteworthy option is Suave Professionals Dry Conditioner Spray ($3) because it contains shea butter and sunflower seed extract to really hydrate your hair. Another great option (especially if you’ve had a keratin treatment) is Keratin Complex Lock Luster Nourishing Spray Conditioner ($25). It contains keratin and is chock full of anti-aging antioxidants and vitamins to moisturize your hair.

I haven't had any luck with dry shampoo- they all seem to leave my hair feeling greasier. Am I using the wrong? I spray from a distance at the roots and then brush through. I would be willing to try dry conditioner as long as it doesn't weigh down my thick hair!

Kerry, try spraying in sections at the roots all over. About 6 inches or so from the scalp. Wait a couple of minutes and then brush through. Remember like when you'd try to brush your hair 100 times at bedtime to make it grow long and shiny? OK, not that long but do take your time to brush through it. Then for a finishing touch if needed, tousle with fingers. That should help.
