Open Your Eyes With A Two-Toned Mascara

I began a lifelong love affair with mascara the minute I swiped it on my eyelashes back in high school. Since I have blonde, “invisible” eyelashes, mascara makes an incredible difference to my look and I can't go a day without it. That's why when I came across Estée Lauder's latest innovation in mascara, I was eager to give it a try.

The brand's new Sumptuous Two Tone Eye-Opening Mascara ($28) is perfectly named because it gives you sumptuous lashes and opens your eyes with just a couple swipes of the wand. And just like the packaging says, it brings “a dual approach to your lashes, combining two contrasting shades and two distinct brushes for instantly lifted, beautiful eyes." You simply coat your upper lashes in a bold black color, then define the lower lashes with a subtle color (in my case blue) to get an eye-brightening effect that I absolutely love.

The mascara also has two different brushes, a thicker one for your top lashes in the black shade that works to define, lift and thicken your lashes, and one for the lower lashes in the contrasting shade. I especially like the bottom lash brush (situated at the opposite end of the mascara tube) because it's smaller and makes it easy to reach even the tiniest lashes.

After applying this mascara, my lashes looked thicker and longer. And I already have pretty long lashes, so for them to look noticeably longer is an accomplishment. Even my male friends were complimenting me. One said that he could see my lashes from across the room and just for that, I will continue to use it.

Plus, the two tones give you a fun and easy way to play up your makeup without looking too dramatic or overdone. I tried the Limited Edition Bold Black and Rich Blue, but you can also get it in two other shades: Bold Black and Rich Brown and Bold Black and Rich Plum.

I already do that with my own mascara and use brown on the lower since you are not supposed to use mascara on them it makes you look older etc., and I use my black or dark color on top lashes or my never fake it or new mascara. That is an old idea I have been doing since I was a youngsters, It looks great, the best is green or navy on bottom and black on top. Lynn
