Are Bb Creams The New Evolution Of Cosmetics?

We're skeptical here at NewBeauty. It's our job not to blindly believe every bit of hype we hear. BB creams have been causing quite a stir lately as they slowly come over to the U.S. from eastern locales like South Korea, where they are already incredibly popular.

What exactly are BB creams? They are the all-in-one beauty solution, combining the most important components of skin care and cosmetics. It acts as a brightener, primer, concealer, moisturizer and UV protector all at once. With all that crammed into one tube, how effective could it possibly be? We had to consult with an expert.

According to Mandy Epley, master aesthetician at Jillian Wright Clinical Skin Spa, these creams are living up to their promises. “One has to find the right one that works best for their skin type to avoid excess shine, breakouts, etc,” she advises. However, the compelling component that really differentiates BB creams is the effective SPF. “As a rule of thumb in the skin-care world, it's a must to have a separate SPF in the summer or if you live in climates where it's “summer all year around.” It is never enough in any product that combines SPF. It must be the last application in your regimen before applying make-up, except with a BB cream because of its cover-up, illuminating and primer capabilities,” Epley says.

I found out from my Korean husband a few years back that BB creams were the secret behind all Korean women's flawless looking skin. I did have to try a few in order to find the BB cream with the right color type and feel for my individual skin type. I wouldn't totally replace my skincare regimen with the BB cream and agree with another post that your skin is getting cheated by one product that claims to do all. The BB cream by itself will not give you the same full benefits that your serum would. BB cream should be treated as a makeup with spf and beneficial ingredients for your skin and not as a replacement to your whole skin care/ makeup routine. Korean women still do their full skin care routine, followed by the BB cream and in some instances, still put on foundation and powder.

  • I strongly believe that it would be better to use a specific product for blemish treatment and to complete the treatment by apply a suncare, instead of having a BB cream. Though as I know the suncare product must be renewed every two hours in normal conditions, so how could it possibly renew your BB product every two hours? If you do that then you don’t have money or time economy. However it is practically better to use BB products in a short travel or if you have to minimize your luggage, but if the skin treatment is the core concept and concern, then I believe that you have to use more penetrated, more efficient and more clinical tasted brands which specialize their action in your specific skin concern. I totally understand that maybe the BB creams cost lower than to buy many products but is better to use just one proven product to cover just one of your skin concern rather to have uncertain solutions and to make your skin suffered.

The problem with the "BB" creams is that your skin is not able to get the same absorption of key ingredients that have a different molecular weight. For example, your vitamin C, growth factors, peptides and antioxidant serums should go on first (there are some great combo serums available). Then, depending on your skin type, the proper moisturizer OR moisturizer with SPF to hydrate, protect and seal. Don't misunderstand...the BB's are better than not doing anything at all, but if you are looking for optimal results, it's a shortcut that cheats your skin.

  • BB made in U.S.A.

I've been using Illuminare Cosmetics foundation/illuminating/concealing/SPF 20 sunscreen foundation creams for over 10 years and they are made right here in the U.S.A.! They don't call them "BB" creams, but they do all the above beautifully!

I have tried several BB cream and so far among those that I have tried, Missha BB cream is the best. It has SPF50 an anti aging products at the same time. The best of all it is not oily and after a few minutes it perfectly blends to your skin color. I even have my friends use it and they all like it too.

If you decide to try BB creams, make sure to read the reviews and to get one that fits your skin type. I tried about 10 different BB Creams and HATED them (they turned ashy/grey, made my skin super-oily, etc.), until I tried "Baviphat Magic Girls Plus BB Cream for Oily Skin SPF30". It is great for mature, breakout-prone skin. Also, try Miracle Skin Transformer -- it is moisturizer, primer, antioxidant and spf 20 all in one. My problem skin looks great with just this and a little powder. Wait a few minutes after applying to see the full effect. It really does transform your skin! No - I dont sell the stuff - I am just a happy customer. I use the BB Cream if I need more coverage and use the MST if less coverage is OK. I haven't used the BB Cream long enough to say definitively which one I prefer...

I have used a product called Dr. Shrammeck's Blemish Balm year round for several years. I live in Texas and the climate is rather harsh. This is a miracle for my skin. It is even safe to sleep in, even though I do not ever do that. It lasts forever and I do not need a moisturizer. I do wear sunscreen in summer just to double insure. I love the product. It is expensive, but not when you consider that you need so little else to go with it.

I picked up Jasmine Water "Triple Function Blemish Balm" BB Cream SPF 30 PA++ (made in Korea) at a special promotional price in a Watson's HBA store in Istanbul a couple of weeks ago. And I LOVE it. Easy to blend, a lovely shade (I can even wear it as foundation in a pinch). It also comes in a travel-friendly squeeze tube. Before then, I had never heard of BB cream. Now I'm hooked, and I will keep purchasing and using this product. It seems to hit all the right notes - a useful, appealing, portable, affordable "core" product.

I've been reading about these creams for quite some time because I am intrigued with the concept of using only one product that is reasonably priced as compared to maybe 10 different products a day which costs me a fortune every month. I know these BB creams work quite well, better than anything we have on the market in the states but here again, it's the corporations who align themselves with the politicians that keep these products banned from our shelves because it would cost these companies billions of dollars a year. These companies have brainwashed American women into believing that it takes all these creams, serums and potions to keep us youthful when in fact one product will do. Gee, after just celebrating the Fourth of July, it sure would be nice if ALL Americans would read the Constitution, demanding that our politicians go back to governing the United States of America based upon the laws promulgated in this once living document called the Constitution.Maybe then, they would start doing what's in the best interests of the people instead of the large corporations, lobbyists, etc.

  • I have Smashbox's BB Cream On advance order from QVC. I should get it around 7/20. I'm very anxious to try it. I live in Florida & I can't stand to use a sererate moisturizer, then a SPF, then a primer & then a foundation on top.....FORGET IT!!!! I go around bare skinned most of the time because I'm constantly sweating profusely. I wish I lived back north :(

  • BB Cream (blemish balm cream) is the big hit in Asia right now. General Product Features and Benefits * Produces a very natural, "no makeup look" * Provides perfect coverage like a foundation would but since it's not as thick, it doesn't clog the pores * Works pretty much like a tinted moisturizer * Conceals all types of pigmentation, discoloration, acne and other blemishes * Has healing properties that soften, smoothen and refine skin * Encourages skin regeneration to create and maintain youthful skin * Contains UV Protection for healthy skin (SPF levels differ for each brand/product) * Anti-wrinkle and skin-lightening benefits (available for some variants) Follow this link for more info! Great article on it! http://www.squidoo.com/b-b-cream
