Just like the rest of your body, your face contains fat, which is what gives it its youthful appearance. But as you age, the amount of fat in some areas of the face-like the cheeks and under-eye area-begin to decline and descend, which can leave them looking skeletal, concave and saggy.

In essence, fat loss is highly individualized. It doesn’t effect everyone the same way or at the same rate. Traditional thinking has been that our faces simply give in to gravity and fall with time; but today, most doctors agree that facial fat plays a significant role in how the face ages.

In order to fully address and correct the appearance of aging and its associated volume loss, it’s important that both the descent and deflation of tissue are addressed.
