the trendsetters
The Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery is the first freestanding laser center in the world. A wide array of aesthetic, skin-specific treatments are available that Dr. Tina S. Alster and Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi themselves developed, including groundbreaking research using Fraxel®, Thermage™ and other innovative devices. Their commitment to the education of other professionals in advanced laser surgical and cosmetic techniques has garnered them international recognition on television, radio and in print.
“Every person who comes into our practice receives personal, customized care,” says Dr. Alster, an internationally recognized expert in the field of cosmetic dermatology and consultant to Lancôme. Together, Dr. Alster, her co-director Dr. Tanzi, and board-certified dermatologist Dr. Jennifer L. MacGregor—who takes an interest in laser and facial rejuvenation, body contouring, vein therapy and scar revision—use the most cutting-edge treatments to beautify their patients’ skin. All three dermatologists believe in creating individualized treatment plans based on what they observe and what each patient wants. “Everyone’s skin is different,” says Dr. Tanzi, who is a consultant to L’Oréal USA. “There’s no one way to treat wrinkles.” The practice prides itself on always staying on the cutting edge of cosmetic dermatology, which is important in a field where the sky’s the limit in terms of new advancements.

The doctors’ passion for staying up-to-the-moment means that their patients can expect not just one type of laser treatment option, but a variety of treatments and lasers. “If you only have access to one device, you’re always going to prescribe that particular tool,” says Dr. Alster, who is on the board of directors of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. “We use numerous lasers in addition to other systems, so we have a huge toolbox of treatment options available.”

NATURAL VISIONARIES
“Every person who comes into our practice receives personal, customized care,” says Dr. Alster, an internationally recognized expert in the field of cosmetic LASER SURGER Y, AND DERMATOLOGY CONSULTANTANT TO LANCôME. When it comes to patients’ results, Drs. Alster, Tanzi and MacGregor KEEP IT NATURAL and pride themselves on their effective procedures that require no downtime after treatment. Their office is equipped with MORE THAN 20 LASERS, which the doctors use to treat a variety of conditions such as acne, wrinkles and scarring. Because they are in the same demographic as many of their patients and have undergone many of the same procedures their patients ask about, all three doctors can speak candidly about the results they can expect. “Many of our patients are like us and understand how important it is to project a positive image,” says Dr. Tanzi. “We’re making it easier for professional women and men to undergo dermatologic procedures so that their WORK AND SOCIAL SCHEDULES REMAIN UNINTERUPTED,” says Dr. Alster.
